Scolari, who was sacked last week, had said that Anelka and Drogba were incompatible when it came to play in tandem during his tenure at Stamford Bridge. But Anelka said that the Brazilian never tried playing both the strikers together.
"A lot of people said we couldn't play together - but we never tried it. In 20 minutes we scored three goals," Anelka was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph, after his hat-trick in Chelsea's 3-1 FA Cup win over Watford.
Both Anelka and Drogba played upfront in the match and the Frenchman felt that the combination could change the complexion of any game.
